Remotely back out of a parking spot?

Featured Replies

Perhaps Im dreaming, but I thought using the Skoda App it was possible to get the car to very slowly drive forward or backwards out of a parking spot, to help when someone parks too close to your doors and you cant get in.

Was I dreaming? Is this something I have to subscribe to to unlock?

It's a feature available on the Mk2, with the appropriate option specified of course :-).

Has never been something you could do with the Mk1.

Sounds like Cuckoo Land.

The new Remote Park Assist will be available for the second-generation Kodiaq in 2024. It allows the SUV to be manoeuvred into tight parking spaces from outside the vehicle using a smartphone app. The vehicle and smartphone communicate via Bluetooth over a distance of up to five metres. The Kodiaq can be moved forwards and backwards in a straight line using the smartphone as a remote control. During the parking manoeuvre, the system can detect approaching objects and pedestrians and prevent collisions automatically.

That is parking, ie manouvring into a parking spot, parallel parking not extricating a vehicle where there is not room to open the drivers door.

A stupid feature no doubt dreamed up by the pubescent designers who think having the rear of a vehicle lit up like a Christmas tree whilst making the indicators so tiny and dim they cannot be seen is cool and desirable.

Who the heck wants to get out of their car to park it using their phone when the system will already do it hands free with them behind the wheel if they are incompetent drivers?

Mind you it would probably park the car beside a telecoms cabinet or similar on the kerb edge which would stop them from getting back in the car 😀

You clearly dont live somewhere with tiny car parks. At my kids school I had to climb through the passengers door because a RR had parked right next to me.
