Claim under Warranty outwith dates

Featured Replies

Hiya,

Looking to see if anyone has had an success with this?  My car's warranty runs out on 10th October however this morning (23/09) the TPMS system showed a fault.  I phoned my local Skoda garage to get it booked in for repair and the next available date is the 25th November!!

They wouldn't even let me just drop the car off on the chance a technician would be free at somepoint to have a quick look.

I suspect the TPMS fault would be covered under warranty so someone suggested contacting VWFS to let them know as they may cover any claim outwith the warranty period given I have attempted to get it booked in but can't.

I did ask them to check other garages and none within 80miles radius of where I stay in Scotland have any space before 10th October.  I was also told it had to be a Skoda garage so couldn't goto a VW or Seat one.

I have emailed VWFS but not anticiapting much success.  Just wondering if anyone has had this scenario and any success.

Worst case I will just go to my trusted independant who won't charge me the usual main dealer prices.

Thanks,

The rule is that if you make the manufacturer aware of the issue before the warranty period runs out then you are covered for the issue.  I think the main assumption is for this exact situation.  My advice would be to get it booked in with a good explanation of the issue recorded.  That way you have given them the correct information they need to process the warranty claim to VW.  Don't just book it in saying "please have a look".

Did you try Victoria Garage, Maud?
