Brake pad change

Featured Replies

Did the front pads on my Dec 2019 superb yesterday. Uneven wear due to incorrect pads which in turn led to incorrect fitment.

Pictures below.

You can see the uneven wear,

The circular cut out should be on the inboard pad at the top. Mine were fitted inboard at the bottom leading to the pads wearing at the top too quickly leading to uneven wear.

Lucky I caught it as the sensor wire was only just touching the insulation.

Now, it was impossible for the pads to be fitted correctly due to one sensor wire on the driver side. Genuine VW pads. Was the brake back shim fitted wrong from the factory or are they fit left hand drive? I have history so know it was a main dealer that did it before I bought the car.

You just pull the sensor out and fit it to the correct pad.

Well I wouldn't have thought of that, and I guess the main dealer didn't either........🤦

At least I've know I've done it correct with the TRW's that I fitted
