Looking for the previous owner BF17AEC

Featured Replies

Hi guys
Just wondering if the previous owner of my car is on here and hopefully shed some light on the history of problems so I can build a case against the dealer.
The registration is BF17AEC Octavia vrs dsg bought from Fusion motors of West Thurrock Essex.
I've had the car 6 months and was told the service was done the day before purchase, 3 weeks later I was 2 weeks away from going on holiday to Cornwall, so thought i would get a dsg service for piece of mind.
On the day I get a phone call asking me if I would like an engine service aswell to which I replied it's already been done  !
Nothing has been touched for at least a year according to the state of the oil was the reply.
So Engine and dsg service it is at a cost of nearly a grand, after the service I'm informed it needs 2 front tyres and a new coolant reservoir!  Another £500.
In the meantime there is no response from the dealer, by phone and whenever I visit no one is about.
I have suffered the cost and moved on.
Now after frequent regens over the months the car will now not regen and has gone into limp mode a week before it's MOT 😡
I can't get it into the garage until the 28th as they are fully booked, so now walking to work and without a car.
To this day the dealer still not answered my calls and no one there except the car cleaner whenever I go there.
I must say I've never owned a vrs before and thought these were meant to be pretty quick, well I think I've bought a dud as it seems a bit gutless to me and the worst car I've ever bought, it's on finance and I'm now stuck with it for another 4 and a half years 😡
And the rear wiper motor has packed up

The service history is easily checked by a Skoda dealer or by a decent independent with access to the Skoda service database. Have you checked to see if a service was recorded as being done on your car the day before purchase?

Yeah, engine oil in diesels is like that. Pretty hard to judge the condition of it by just looking at it.

Might be worth giving trading standards a call about them.

That, or drop them a line.

I'm not a diesel owner because I wanted to avoid this, but it's not a deal-breaker if you know the foibles of DPFs and work with the DPF rather than against it.

I'm not prepared to change my lifestyle to suit my car, so I understand your frustration.

To summarise: Less moaning and feeling sorry for yourself, more proactive action on getting a satisfactory resolution. 👍

In future, it might be worth running a check on who's running the business you're making a big purchase from before you hand over any money.

The MOT history looks pretty ropey, for that car.

I think it's been used and abused. It's always a red flag if a car has advisories on its first MOT, IMO.

Good luck! 🤞

The service history is not what I'm after,it's the problems the previous owner had with it !

Dealer didn't stamp the book or show an invoice for it.

Going to get in contact with the finance company and see if they can do anything ( hopefully)
