73 Plate Kodiaq L&K 193bhp diesel

Featured Replies

Hi all, just got my Kodiaq, only 4 kmiles, v nice. But, I’m getting really frustrated at the servicing tripe I’m being told at the dealership, they talk like they’re doing me a favour @ £819 for 3yrs & 1 MOT. But, it appears to be essentially oil changes, no mention of fuel filter changes , yes they blather on about checks, but that’s a 5 min look for god’s sake? I always insisted on diesel oil change at 6 months, as we all know diesel oil is filthy. I’ve searched the digital manual for service internals and what should be done, but nothing, other than take your car to a dealer. Modern vehicles are more complex than ever, yes oils are better but come on. It seems more ‘do less, charge more’? Sorry for the rant, any views?

After a year I got the wee garage 4 minutes (walking) from home to change my oil.  Using a pukka Skoda filter and a gallon of Opie Castrol.  Pay peanuts compared with main dealer.  Received a full page checklist too.

An oil change service is simply that.  Don't be fooled by the "sexy" video walk round.  We can all count our wheels and tyres, wipers, etc.

A few days ago I did the exact same thing with my wife's low miles 2023 Polo. I've got the air and cabin filters on the shelf for future use.

£819 my arse!

ps - I'm seriously thinking of buying these 2 cars at the end of the lease period in this ever changing climate we live in - so I'm not fussed about dealer paperwork.

Welcome to the Forum.

Engine Oil can be dirty 20 miles after an Oil Change, how many miles do you do in 6 months.

A Fixed Oil & Filter regime is fine, 9,400 miles / 12 months.

The Fuel Filter comes way down the list of the stuff like the Brake Fluid Change, The Pollen Filter change,

the Air Filter change as 6 years / 60,000 miles.  That time is a nonsense, that should be checked annually or bi-annual on variable servicing.

It is Oil & Inspection service years 1 and 2 and year 3 with extended scope if on Fixed Servicing Regime.

The Haldex Service is at 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner.

Cam Belts are not at 5 years anymore, DQ200 DSG,s were never @ 40.000 miles, none ever by the years.

A DQ381 DSG is at 80,000 miles, or sooner if you want.
