Strange sound from rear part of Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI 4X4

Featured Replies

I wonder if someone could have a listen to these sound files of a strange sound, almost sounding like an electric motor, and it comes from the rear part of the car. Usually only hear it once during each ride and not always, after 2-3 minutes and going around 60km/h and not doing any gear changing.

Short and with noise reduction:

Thanks.

If you have problems loading the sound file I uploaded them to an external site:

Thanks for any insight into what is causing this sound. The "clicking sound" in the end is not relevant, just an artifact from the recodring.

My 2015 Scout 2.0 TDI is making the same noise and I have no clue what is causing it. Did you find the cause?

I have no idea what it is but if I wud be certain it comes from the rear I wud put vcds to log all kind of haldex unit data during the drive and take note of the time when sound occurs and then look at the logged data (at home or so). Something like haldex pressure and pump voltage etc.

Again, I dont know if it is even from haldex.

Any luck? I still haven't been able to diagnose the problem.

Sorry for late reply. It was probably the Haldex pump. It was cleaned and changed oil and I have not heard the sound after that. DSG oil was also changed at the same time (as it was time for that) so there is a slight probability that it was from the DSG, but I dont think so.
