Infotainment System Clicking And Variously Cycling Through Boot Screen / Carplay / App / Etc

Featured Replies

This began a few days ago.  Even hard resetting the infotainment system (holding down power button for 10-20 seconds) doesn't stop it.  It makes use of the infotainment system impossible - eg playing music, using nav, etc etc.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Any known causes / solutions?

Small update which adds to how strange this bug is - I have discovered that the infotainment system keeps doing this little dance even after I turn the car off and lock it and walk away from it.  So seemingly now I have a very high risk of battery drain causing me to be stranded.

Several on here have had issues with clicks and Pops from the SOS system module which has been fixed with a software update and in some cases of early build cars (like mine) the module replaced too.

The later Infotainment System software updates have fixed the restarts for many too, you'd need v1941 or higher. Your local dealer should be able to do the updates, hopefully under warranty as they are known faults.

A while back there was an IV owner who experienced the Infotainment System coming on and off whilst parked up - but sadly I cannot recall the details nor the solution 🙄. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a control unit somewhere that needed replacement.

You need a new screen. 1300 + VAT + work if out of warranty. Known issue so there is a chance Skoda will cover at least part of it. No SW updates will solve this. Until it is fixed you can pull infotainment fuse for the night to protect your battery. It is fuse nr 30 if I remember correctly.

We had problems with ours turning on and off, and we haven't had a problem since the dealer upgraded the Infotainment system from 1806 to 1941. However, the problem was intermittant so although we have had a few months without problems, only time will tell whether it actually fixed it completely

Thanks for this.  The fuse bit is particularly helpful!  The car is under warranty so whatever the resolution is, it won't be at my cost.  I have it booked in with Skoda service for next week and will update the thread after that.

Be prepared that they will first update software and tell you all is fixed, just for the problem to come back later. Perhaps worth speaking to technician to ask to consider swapping the screen right away, since the issue is quite known for these cars. Any version of screen below H49 is having this issue sooner or later. Good luck!

Thanks again, this will be very useful information to have at hand when I drop the car off!

For those playing at home - Skoda has replaced the screen.  Hopefully that will resolve the issue.

So, my new screen is three months old, and the car's only been used for two of those three months. The screen is now (almost) wholly unresponsive to touch. First had the issue yesterday, went back to the car today and the touchscreen worked once just after I started the car the first time, then packed it in and didn't work again, even after I parked the car for a while and went back to it later. Sooooooooo it seems we're yet again heading back to the dealership with a screen issue.
