Hello,
I currently have a 2012 Superb (1.6 TDi).

It became available through a friend at price I couldn't refuse, and it was purchased to run a family member around. 

Although not my choice of car (too big), I know Skoda, and had no reservations about owning one.
I have had it for a year now and I am really happy with it. The boot is cavernous, and (apart from big Mercs), its the only car I have been in where I can sit in the back seat behind my driving seat position and still have loads of legroom. (I'm 6'3").

History.
Once upon a time in a lifetime before kids, I owned a 2003 Golf IV GTI 180 6-speed that I purchased from new.

Once the warranty ran out I slammed and tuned it to stage2 (REVO).
Forge FMIC, Forge Turbo intake, new injectors, Full Manifold back Stainless Milltek exhaust with high-flow cat and custom tail pipes that curved down and stayed hidden.

Plus a custom built 4inch ram air type ducting pipe from the front valance to a hole in the side of the air filter box. I experimented with different shiny air filters and although the car sounded awesome when changing gear (bus air breaks), performance was lost. All the different filters were simply sucking in hot air from the engine as those 1.8Ts ran hot.

(230bhp with 300lbs of torque. Torque steer could catch you out and it span the front wheels in 3rd in the wet. Even the garage didnt know where all the torque came from, just the right combination of upgrades).
It even got a 3 page spread in Volkswagen Diver magazine.

Long story short, and getting to my point.
During my tuning research and investigation I learnt that a lot of parts are shared across VAG.

The 1.8T engine was in so many different cars across the group, VW, AUDI, Skoda and SEAT - sorry to state the obvious and teach you all to suck eggs, but I am telling a story here 😀
This obviously educated me to the fact Skoda's are good cars using components from the better brands. 

I thought this was common knowledge and the days of the 80's Skoda jokes were long gone.
What do you call a convertible Skoda..... A skip.....
However, I have had a few people turn their snobby little noses up at the fact I have a Skoda lol.
If I get the chance to buy my own choice of car in the future, it will probably be a Skoda.
I have had my Superb for a year now and I love it..... Apart from parking, its so bloody long lol.
