Glow plug relay access

Featured Replies

Struggling to clear trim away to gain access to relay panel behind fuses. Any advice that was on the internet seems to be no longer available.

Taken 3 screws out at fuse bank level but trim does not want to come away easily.Any advice would be welcome.May be Im not being brutal enough .Also replacement relay comes with bracket I hope it's the right one.

Scout 2007 1.9. Thank you.

That relay looks like one that would be mounted in the engine bay.

Can you offer reg number or VIN so I can check where yours should be.

What's below the light switch? Looks like a panel or something between light switch and diagnostic socket?

Yes thanks vin number is TMBNG65J675059105.   BSW. ( ENGINE )

Below main switch is cuby for loose change and is moulded into the trim.

Should find it in position 9 of the relay panel and may say "100" on the top of it. I think relay panel will be behind and above fuse panel. Deeper and higher in dashboard. Fuse panel probably has to come out to access?

Think you have the wrong relay too. Yours should be more conventional cuboid shape, part number 7M0 951 253A, superseded by 4H0 951 253, according to parts catalogue.

Let us know how you get on with accessing the relay panel please Robert, preferably with photos.

Forum info on such things tends to be sparse, because the need for access is relatively rare.

Found a video detailing removal of dash on Fabia 2 and the clue was there. Also see my photo with hidden screw only just visible behind plastic lug.. So correct relay should arrive soon and hopfully be able to install .

Found another screw at top of and inside side cover same as previous one. With both out and screw along fue bar out was able to pull the trim and wedge with wood pieces  sufficient to get hand in and waggle old relay free , and then push new one in. Not easy as took a lot of waggling to free

And what a brilliantly done video that is (a sequence of annotated still pictures really, and all the better for it).

I'd have to recommend minimal or zero audio volume though.  :D

Yes, those type of videos are superb, no "HI GUYS!!!" etc and 90% irrelevant narcissistic chatter that I have to skip through oly to learn that I had zero to learn from the video.

Now that the likes of Haynes manuals are extinct thanks to the internet there is an opportunity for someone to create on line workshop manuals using this format.
