quick radio question

if my radio hasnt got a decent reception on a particular channel it keeps searching for a better reception.i find this a pain in the backside as you can be listening to something and then pass through an area that interferes with the reception briefly and then the bloody things starts searching again and you miss what you were trying to hear:rolleyes:

is there a way to turn off this function.
