Help with a couple of functions on New Superb

Featured Replies

Hello.

I have recently picked up a new Skoda Superb estate L&K 193.  So far I am super pleased with it (albeit nervously watching the dash for errors discussed on another thread!) however there are two things I cannot get working much to my frustrations and disappointment in myself lol!

For the life of me I cannot set up the function where the passenger wing mirror dips when reverse is engaged, it worked perfectly in my previous mk 3 superb.  I have followed the instructions in the manual (which I think actually relate to a LHD car as they reference leaving the mirror adjuster in the R position) and  a few variations on that theme, but nothing seems to work.  The function is enabled in the infotainment but the mirror does not move and as I say setting it as the manual suggests does not fix it!  If anyone has any tips or things to check I would appreciate it as it would save me a trip to the local dealer, avoiding  me feeling like a numpty!

In a similar vein I noticed the first few journeys when I switched off the engine and opened the door, there was a spoken warning reminding me that there was a phone connected to the car or in the phone box (can't quite remember what exactly was stated).  This  has since stopped and I can't find a way of turning it on again!  A really minor thing but useful and I was really impressed with the feature when it was working.   Any and all advice appreciated!

Hi there, welcome to the small frustrations club 😁

I drive a left hand drive plug-in and I recall having issues with the dipping mirror where I could only get the lefthand side to dip, but the not the right, which was a total waste like this. I could just raise a bit and see the curb on my side obviously… Then I gave up and haven’t looked at it. Maybe worth a try if in your rhd one the right mirror can dip. If you resolve it and get the opposite side to dip, I would be interested!

For the mobile reminder there is an on/off switch at the bottom of the audio settings menu. I wanted to turn it off, as it keeps reminding even for plugged in cables without any device at the other end. However, the switch doesn’t work on mine, it is constantly on. Wish you luck with this one too!

Thanks very much for the response.  Yes I have tried both sides just as a test and neither moves so I think there maybe a bug of some description. It’s not the biggest issue in the world buy may contact the dealer in the new year as my view is all functions should really be working on a brand new car!

The mobile reminder on mine is set to on but it only reminds me intermittently (maybe 1 in 15-20 times).

Like you say it seems to be the small frustrations club (maybe we should make a membership badge 😀 ) overall I really love the car but just wish these small niggles weren’t present!

Thanks again.

Apologies if you've already tried this, but it is more complicated than in the MkIII: here are the relevant instructions from the online manual which sucks:

Saving the position of wing mirror on the passenger's side for reversing

  1. Turn on the ignition.

  2. Select the Car settings /  Exterior menu in the Infotainment system.

  3. Select the screen with the Mirrors item by swiping with your finger.

  4. Select the Mirrors item and activate the folding wing mirror function.

  5. Switch the wing mirror control to R position (assume L for RHD car)

  6. Engage reverse gear.

  7. Set the mirror to the desired position. (this is the key bit you have to select the position manually)

  8. Disengage reverse gear.

The set mirror position is stored in memory.

I had the same issue. Ignition on, select the side (for me is R), then change to reverse. Nothing happened, just a really small movement of the mirror.

After I realised, you have to set the mirror (down) position in this condition, using the mirror set knob. Since then the function works perfectly, the car saved the down and the normal position both.

Thanks for the replies. Yes that is exactly the process I've followed but still no joy.

Car is due the software update so I'll ask the dealer to check when it is in for that. Thanks again.

After setting it up, my passenger mirror will only dip, in reverse gear, when the door mirror selector is set to the passenger mirror (L in my case). 🤷

Set it up following Funkstains post. No result. Will try the above by Ccc1. My L&K hybrid estate built 14/11/2024.
