a question of roof bars ?

hi all

just putting my original skoda thule) roof bars onto my octy for the summer holidays for the first time i've and lo and behold they have different fitting to my cycle carriers ( which is what i'm putting them on the car to hold).

my old roof bars had grooves that the cycle carrier attachments slotted into, the new roof bars don't have grooves which either means I have to buy new roof bars ( with grooves) or new cycle carriers or some kind of adaptor that will hold them together - anyone had the same problem and can advise me how best to proceed?
