2.0 TDI EVO or 1.5eTSI EVO 2

Featured Replies

Hi, I’m choosing between the Octavia 4 facelift TDI vs TSI, both automatic with 110 kW. I’d like some advice from experienced users about which one would be more economical for me. Any personal experiences would also be appreciated. Thank you so much!

I drive 5,000 miles per year.

  • Commute to work 3 times a week: 32 miles one way (about 15 miles on the highway, the rest in the city, and the trip takes about an hour).
  • Additional drives for shopping, gym, etc., 3–4 times a week: 5 miles one way and then back.

Sorry, meant 15 000 miles per year.

Maybe not much in it as far as economy / efficiency but i do not know the price of petrol or diesel where you are.

Best drive them and see what you think.

Both 7 speed DSG,s but different as far as a Twin Dry Clutch with the 1.5 TSI Mild Hybrid & a wet clutch with the TDI.

That might make no difference.

Complexity of the Mild Hybrid or then the DPF / SCR with the TDI.

Petrol is more expensive, not by much tho. I did some calculations and TDI will be profitable after 5 years (not including maintenance).

I liked the TSi smoothness and quietness but also the TDI efficiency. Also a little bit worried by the dry clutch because I often am stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Work out which car you actually prefer, then look at the trade-offs of choosing that car over the other, and see if your preference is enough to counterbalance the trade-offs.
