Front springs

Featured Replies

I've got a 2018 superb estate l&k. Bought from skoda at 3 years old.

Within the first 6 months I pulled out of a car parking space at low speed and heard a massive bang from the wheel. Luckily under warranty, turns out spring had snapped and also the shocks were also weeping. Shocks and springs therefore replaced on front of car.

Last night while driving at again low speed over a speed bump I believe the left hand side front spring has again snapped.

Took put the skoda extended warranty so expecting this to be fixed again but I find it amazing that the spring has broken twice in the space of a few years and the cars still only done 65k miles.

Is there an issue with the quality of the springs or something as I'm now worrying about keeping this car going forward, if it's gona need new front suspension every couple of years.

My 1.6 estate has just turned 190k miles and still on original front springs & shocks.

I haven't noticed many ( if any ) posts on here with similar early failures.

I've had cars before with springs that have gone but none under 100k. Maybe I've just been unlucky.

The front right spring on my sons Mk111 has just broken, how far can he drive it as I suspect he wont want to have to pay to have it transported to a garage for them to repair

Also, any idea how much it is likely to cost

Ended up being covered by the warranty so didn't cost me anything but only after I argued. Think originally they said around the £400 mark but needed a new top mount as well.
