Hello,

I have owned an Octavia RS IV since November 1st, and I really enjoy driving the car. However, I hear a high-pitched whistling or buzzing sound at speeds above 50 km/h. When I'm sitting behind the wheel, it seems to come from the right side, but when I'm in the passenger seat, it seems to come from the left side.

The car has been to the dealer multiple times, and they have checked it out. There's nothing unusual with the rubber seals, and all the seals are in the correct places. They also checked the door alignment, but everything is in its proper place. Although, the sound is similar to wind coming from a window that isn’t fully closed.

This problem is driving me mad and I am hoping to find someone who recognizes this problem or can help me identify the sound.
 

 

 

 

Has it happened ever since you bought the car, or is it something that's developed more recently?

 

I can't pick up a whistle or buzz from your sound bite, but it does sound like wind noise. From what you've described I had the identical problem in another car. One of the front windows wasn't fully closed to it's stop. It looked closed, but was about 1-2mm off the stop. A loud whistle only started from around 60kph and it was solved when the mechanic took it out to listen for himself - very embarrassing! I know you have obviously checked the windows et al, but it still sounds suspiciously like wind. Is there anything, even a tiny foreign object, stuck in one of the upper window channels that you can't see?
