RPM drops to zero when driving and at low speeds

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have the new the Mk2 Kodiaq Selection 1.5TSI recently for about 1mth. When driving on highways, i noticed sometimes when my foot is off the gas pedal the RPM goes to zero, when stepping on the pedal it comes back up again like normal.

Also, when in heavy traffic, sometimes the same thing happens when my foot is off the gas pedal, RPM goes to zero and it feels the engine was cut off. And when I brake and come to a stop, the engine felt like it kicked back in and idles normally.

I always turn off the Stop/Start function before each drive.

Anyone experienced the same thing? I'm not sure if its due to the Active Cylinder function.

That’s the coasting function for saving fuel.  It’s normal.

Obviously only possible with an auto gearbox.

^^^ As far as Manufacturers vehicles & Type Approval etc.

But not with those with a manual vehicle that just push down the clutch or select Neutral.  & there are drivers that do that.

But the revs wouldn't drop to zero.

^^^ Very true.  But anyway not only does the OP have 'Coasting' they have ACT.

That loss of cylinders firing used to just happen with VW Group engines when they were not running right, spark plug or coil failure etc.
