Grille frame advice

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

A new Škoda Octavia owner with first post here, my wife and I bought practically a brand new used car from the car saloon recently and so far we love it, mostly because of more space :D and we love the design of the car inside and out.

The car has 7k km, 2.0 tdi and 85kw, made in 2024, and altough i love the look (style model, chrome details), i think it would look better with black grille frame and was ready to order one, but then i saw it's not that simple, and im not that into cars so i dont know much besides regular stuff, if that.

But things like, bumper needs to be removed, tons of screws, must be careful with front assist radar to not mess that up, and the price itself for a car dealer to replace it etc seems like too much hassle just for that, so i was thinking to try with plastidip spray maybe, its easily removed and much cheeper and saw really good results on the web.

Anyway, would like some advice, should i use spray or its a no go, if do, matte or gloss (salesman said when we first talked, that if frame is painted black its better to be matte, but not sure if i ever saw one, all have the same black magic paint.

The first pic is my car, second pic is the same one but with black frame, probably original, so thats what i am aiming for.

Thank you and sorry for the long post :)

I'd look at getting the grille frame wrapped rather than plastidip, it'll be more durable and you can have the choice of matte, satin, gloss or metallic black.

Relatively easy to do yourself if you have the skills and patience, otherwise I'm sure there's plenty of professional shops that can do it wherever you are based.
