Car won't turn over

Featured Replies

Hi all. I was wondering if someone has had this or know what it could be. I have a mk octavia VRS and when I go to turn key in the ignition, the car won't turn over. It takes about 3 or 4 attempts of taking key out and back in before it turns over. All the lights come on the dash and battery is fine. It's as if the car doesn't recognise the key for a while then all of a sudden it will work. Central locking works as it should. Thanks for the help.

Sorry it's a mk1.

May be ignition switch. If the lights come on then it could be the part of the switch that starts car has failed. Read on here someone with same problem. Mechanic by passed starter section of switch with button till he got a new one.
