Anyone else had trouble finding 6R0959654 STEERING ANGLE SENSOR/ SLIP RING/CLOCK SPRING ???

I have a feeling that I've seen people successfully repairing this component or similar versions from other models. A ribbon cable within it breaks and can be re-connected with some care, I think.

One alternative is an offputting £245.50 plus VAT price tag for a new genuine one at a Skoda dealer's parts counter. Not sure what, if anything, is available aftermarket.

Someone on here recently replaced the whole ribbon cable with one from Ali-express after having repaired theirs a few times over the years.

 

I do recall reading that failures were common on certain models that did not have the better dust sealing arrangements of later units and being caused by long hairs getting wrapped within the unit.
