Pleasantly surprised.

Started the car today after 3.5 months. Original battery made in Jan 2013. Really unexpected, hence my vocal "oh no"

@ords, which battery model is it?

Unusual to get a factory fitted AGM battery, Skoda normally save a few pennies and fit an EFB battery - you lucked out!

As I said in an earlier post, car was bought at 6 months old as an ex demo, so don't know if the battery is original.

Looks original to me - the 7P0... under 'VARTA' is the part number.

No. What I mean is, whether the dealer changed it from the original battery fitted from the factory.

Yes its the sticker used on batteries delivered to the production line which industry insiders all agree are made to a higher standard (for warranty purposes) than the same battery sold on the aftermarket or even bought from VAG.

It's a good un so look after it, I hope you left it running for 15 minutes after starting as it sounded like it only just had enough oompf to start the vehicle.

I did. The ironic thing is, because I needed to use the car the following day, if it didn't start, I wouldn't have time to get the battery changed, so in anticipation I bought booster  jump battery😩. I guess that will get used someday.

I see that your terminal cover has moved from the negative to the positive.

It does seem to be a bit counter-intuitive, but I think they put it on the negative to stop you connecting anything to it.

That's the reason I originally photographed my Superb battery (other thread), as I was surprised to see the positive terminal with no protection.

For short circuit protection purposes whoever moved the cover to the positive terminal was a wise person.

Or buy another cover and protect both. :)
