Is Carbon Petrol Filter included in Skoda Service Schedule?

Featured Replies

I have extended warranty cover and a full service plan on my vehicle.  Car went into garage due to 'Emission Control Light' warning light staying on.  Garage determined that Carbon Petrol Filter needed replacing.  Warranty company refused to cover as they stated a 'serviceacble item'.  Queried wehy it hadn't been replaced at service 4 whcih happended in September 2024.  Garage told me it wasn't in any service schedule and it's now going to cost me over £400 for the filter and connection paipe to be repalced.

Welcome.

They told the truth. Not a Service item scheduled, recommended, given as guidance or specified.

Did you not get a list showing what was covered under the service plan?

GET THE WARRANTY PROVIDER TO SHOW WHERE IT IS LISTED OR IDENTIFIED AS A SERVICE ITEM, & WHEN DUE.

** Get them to show where excluded in the Warranty T&C,s.**

Not so sure that it needs replacing, but if they are determined......  It is the first i think ever mentioned on here and lots of 4 year old 1.5 TSI ACT,s.

?

Were the spark plugs changed, and has the Air Filter even been checked, or replaced?

I presume they were referring to the charcoal canister, a part of the evaporative emissions equipment.

An unusual failure point and definitely not a service item. Liquid fuel does not go through it.

Thanks for your comments.  Yes I'll certainly challenge the Marshall warranty company.

I obviously misunderstood the garage explanation as they've replaced the ECAP Pipe (£103.56) and Charcoal Canister (£109.50) plus £195.50 Labour all plus VAT giving a grand total of £490.27 which seems pretty steep to me!!  Current mileage at repair was 32,780.

The Service Plan  included servicing/MOT for years 1 through 5 as detailed below.  I did query Service 4 (Sep 2024) with them today as it mentioned 'fuel' - they did replace the spark plugs and air filter but nothing on mentioned on  'fuel' but I guess that refers to diesels.
