new hybrid vrs owner

Featured Replies

hi all i am the new owner of a 73 plate vrs iv and having come from diesels I am a bit baffled by it all and am after any tips or hits on getting the most efficiency out of the car any guides are very welcomed

Heavy right foot, low efficiency, light right foot, high efficiency.

The heavy right foot applies to both accerleration and braking. Although some of the momentum lost through braking is converted back into electricity through the regenerative braking, it is more efficient not to brake in the first place, so anticipating the road and traffic ahead to avoid having to stop - Driving Without Brakes (DWB) as the "hypermilers" say. If you have a seach for "hypermiling" you will find lots of tips.

I generally get around 25% more miles out of a charge than my wife does so driving style makes a big difference and it is really noticable when you only have a maximum battery range of around 30 miles to start with.
