Test drive completed

Featured Replies

Hiya, long time no post, but I’m exploring returning to the brand.

Today I test drove a VRS 2.0 Petrol, no more diesels now :(

Fabulous vehicle, in terms of build equipment as standard.

A couple of observations, the tyres are really noisy on the motorway. 19” I get but there doesn’t seem to be much sound proofing for the road noise.

Secondly, what are those funny plastic trim bits on the alloys?!

Also I keep reading on here, Octavia 4.5, is this the mid face lift? I also keep seeing MY25 on the lease websites. When did the builds change?

Anyway, great car and considering an order.

Tyre noise is very noticeable on rough ashpalt for the Octavia. The rather thin carpeting used does not help and I suspect the issue is made worse with 19" wheels and more aggressive rubber.

This was one reason I downgraded my MY23 from 19" rims to 18" items. The other being that the ride on 19" wheels can be agitated on pock marked city streets, despite DCC being fitted.

I have spoken to a tyre specialist and they recommend a different cover to the Bridgestones mine came with.

And, yes, 4.5 refers to the mid life refresh that you test drove.

I soundproofed my trunk on pre-FL - floor, sides and lid. On rough road it did no make any difference really. On good roads it became quieter though. Changing tires actually gave more difference than soundproofing. So I guess this is how Octavias are...

Aero covers. I don't like them either and when my VRS arrives next Friday I'm planning on removing them. The wheels look so much better without. Only thing to bear in mind if removing them is you'll need some wheel nut covers and centre caps as it doesn't have them underneath the aero covers.

These are the Nut Covers I fitted - includes the locking wheel nut cover.

Black matt for wheels with locking wheel bolts (000 071 215N 01C) .
