I need a further key for my 2018 Kodiaq.

Grateful for advice on best way to proceed, pitfalls to avoid, and where to look for best value.

Best value, don't know. I think I'd want peace of mind of dealer supplied, but don't think they're cheap, which seems mercenary given the 3rd key option for a new car is far less.

For MIB3 at least, key must be coded to the car by a dealer AFAIK, and all keys must be present, otherwise any non-present key is 'locked out'.

Also the dealer can give an option of a 3rd spare key… without the silver detail thinner one. Cheeper but keyless entry now won’t work with these keys once the latest software update. No big issue and I like the smaller key

Thankfully I found the key. I’ll be more careful going forward.

The third party key provider quoted £800.

Skoda won’t provide a quote unless I came to the garage, with the car, V5, and the other key. I assume it wouldn’t be cheaper than the third party.

Check your insurance you may have key cover on there, I just replaced a proximity key on a 21 plate Superb and it was almost £500 including programming from Skoda as no third party could do it.
