Standard LED headlights startup level check

Featured Replies

Hi All, I think I’m being paranoid having recently had the car in for repairs…

Pre-facelift 2024 SEL with standard LED headlights (not matrix) I swear on startup in the dark they used to do an up/down level check on startup but now they’re not. I could be mistaking my memory for our previous Karoq and I’m just being paranoid as it was just in for repairs which included bumper off (I guess headlights out to do this??) and that a coding/reset has been missed…. But maybe I’m totally wrong and they don’t do a level check on startup in the dark.

Can anyone clarify?

Mine doesn’t do a level check.

Mine, also standard and not matrix, Octavia pre fl 2024, also does not do that check.

Thanks both! I’m obviously losing the plot!

Did your Karoq have Matrix lights?

My car does the level check, but that does have the Matrix lights.

Non Matrix so I was obviously having a moment!

Cars without Matrix lights do the little Self Levelling dance.

Are people here saying cars with standard lights do not do that?

Currently self levelling is only required if the light output exceeds a limit, which I think is 2000 lumens, but a change to the regulations from 2027 will require self levelling to be fitted to all new designs and from 2030 for all new sales.

Indeed I am.

The standard LEDs on my 2020 build don't do anything other turn on and off automatically - which I have set to the max sensitivity and thankfully every time I think I should make sure the headlights are on, they already are. 👍
