Oh joy, my door won’t lock or unlock…

Featured Replies

Ok people, please help guide a lost sheep in the world of diagnostics.

I’ve got a Skoda superb mk3 (2018) and the drivers door doesn’t lock or unlock with the key or when pressing the central locking inside the car.

It clicks and sometimes seems to make a buzzing sound. All other doors lock/unlock. I’ve scanned and got these codes:

Driver's door:

B122B11 - Central locking motors: Short circuit to Ground (GND)

B122D29 - Lock unit for central locking: Range/Performance

Does this tell you anything obvious? Can I simply just change the actuator/mechanism with this one on eBay? My guess is it’s probably far more complicated and expensive but you never know…

Any guidance hugely appreciated!

Get the dealer to give toy the part number. Sticky that into eBay and set a reminder for it. You will be notified when one comes up. They vary in price from 40 to 250. I got my one for for 45, whereas new it was 250+

OK brilliant I’ll do that. Do you think based on those codes it will just be the mechanism/actuator that needs changing?

More than likely, yes.

Could it be the old broken cables in the door jam connectors.

Mine has been doing similar last few days :( I looked at the wires in the loom next to the hinge but couldn't find any breaks.

Wondering if it could be the lock mechanism instead? I got a "no communication with lock mechanism" or similar fault code. This would make me think of a broken wire more than a faulty lock but I am open to opinions...
