MK1 front door jammed closed

Featured Replies

Hi,

Desperately need some help here! I have a Fabia MK1 5dr (no central locking, no leccy windows). The passenger front door midway through changing the actuator has closed and now won’t open. The outside door handle pulls the cable, the door inner pull cable for the inner handle is pulling the arm on the actuator, but it’s just stuck shut and feels jammed. I’m observing this down the door gap where the window normally is.

It was fitted properly so unsure why it won’t now open, did the previous side a minute ago no issues.

The door glass is removed. All the inside door card is off and I can remove the metal panel mostly as it’s only been put back in loosely, but it’s hard with the seat in place.  The door actuator is fixed in with the two M8 spline screws so can’t remove that as no access even with rear door open.

Any tips to get this door open?

Got an M10 spline bit? If so, remove that seat for improved access.

Could do… but… What after that? Which bit of the actuator is the issue?

Was hoping to avoid seat removal really!

Dunno, sorry.

assuming its the same general arrangement as a mk1 octy door mechanism...

did you carefully count how many rings/grooves the external pull cable was seated in before you took it off? it seems mental, but if your are a smidge too tight or too loose on that cable it affects the tension inside the latch release from both sides and it wont open.

you need to get that external cable adjusted, tighten it 1 groove at a time first, if no joy work your way back in to loosen it off until it releases.

yes i did the same thing 10yrs ago on my octy 🤣
