Stereo Upgrade

Featured Replies

I have some 6.5inch Alpine Speakers that I was thinking of using to upgrade my daughters Citigo. The speakers have a protruding part which means they are not completely flat fronted. Will they fit? Secondly I have a sub which I was goining to fit under the passenger seat. This either connects to the speaker outputs or via RCA plugs. The factory stereo only had front speakers so I was going to plug into the rear outputs to save splicing wires. Does anyone know the type of plug and connector I need to go into the factory plug? Thanks in advance Chris

I changed mine recently for some JVC 6.5in speakers, they have a slightly protruding front but fitted just great with the spacer kit and speaker connectors that came with them...if your Alpine ones stick out too much , possibly shallower spacers will probably cure this 👍, I chose to use sef tapping screws over riveting them in like original speakers, I don't know about rear speakers and connections unfortunately but would be great if get this sorted as I'm interested in putting rear speakers in my citigo if possible and don't have to put different head unit in 👍

DaveCitigo, how easy was it to get to the speakers and remove the old ones? You say they’re riveted in?

Hiya, its a bit of a faff , probably best to order some new panels clips off Ebay etc...as some might break...I watched a video on YouTube as aren't any manuals 🤷...if you got some plastic panels removal tools these will help too, wont damage panels or door. Watch YouTube video before you start to know what's involved 💤

You just went in through the speaker covers then, didn’t remove any surrounding trim?

No , i took the door panels off to get to the speakers, then drilled the pop rivets out to release the original speakers.

Hmmm, that kind of puts me off the job if drilling out is necessary ☹️
