Unconvincing SatNav!

Featured Replies

I picked up my Mk4 superb in October, trading in my much loved Mk3.

Apart from a selection of the software woes reported widely on this forum I also now suffer fro poor hatch/boot closing.

But possibly my biggest disapointment is the poor operation of the SatNav compared to the Mk3's. It's as if they either ran out of time, or had to take costs out of it.

Where is the choice of routes from the Mk3. And why is the Mk4's SatVav so determined to get you on a motorway, even if this entails a major diversion to get there?

I live in hope that somewhwer somone is working on an update? It certainly needs one!

Hello,

I do get 3 alternative routes when I enter a destination. You have to enable this in navigation settings.

The issue why you are routed to motorway is hard to tell, I do belive that the navigator choose the fastest route. Also a setting you can check and the issue is maybe solved in you enables alternative routes.

My wife has a mk3.5 facelift Octavia with the Amundsen nav unit, I have a 2022 (2023MY) Superb facelift with Amundsen, the earlier Octavia version is by far the better unit in terms of all round functionality - not sure what the software department were doing, like you say they its like they ran out of time late on Friday afternoon!

Another annoying downgrade from the previous model is how late it is telling you where to turn off. Driving to somewhere with multiple motorways and A roads like like the Trafford Centre is particularly bothersome and to a degree dangerous. Previous version gave you plenty of warning - much better!

I get notification , both voice and on screens, about 2000 m before when I’m driving on a motorway. In lower speeds , in city , it is later but still in good time and pretty clear which turn to make if there are multiple turns to get lost in.

I have not looked into the setting to see if you can change this as it works for me in default setting.

I have seen a setting if I want the voice notification to repeat 3 times.
