About to order kodiaq IV

Featured Replies

So I was about to order new kodiaq iv PHEV but after reading through this forum it looks like that it still has a lot of issues. Should I worry? Maybe I should look for alternatives? I actually been eyeing VW Tayron too but looking at Tiguan it looks like it has even more issues than kodiaq which I assume is very likely transfer to Tayron. Is this new normal experience with new cars? Main reason I want new car is reliability but it almost feels likeI can only get it from used cars.

I have one on order (due for delivery mid June) and I have been reading the issues that are being reported and it is a bit worrying… it seems that not all cars have the issues, so fingers crossed.

It seems that the issues are almost exclusively software, so let’s hope that they fix the bugs quickly!

I collected my Sportline iV on 7th April, I've covered near 1000 miles in this time.

I can say without a doubt This is one of the most refined PHEV's i've driven/owned.

I've had no issues (touch wood) so far.

With mine being a March 2025 registration i gather most bugs have been dealt with.

My only gripe with this car is that it can feel underpowered, howeve this is only when trying to get away fast from junctions and it could be down to the DSG rather than the engine.

I drive all my short journey's in EV mode and charge dauily at my work FOC and on long hybrid journeys I'm seeing circa 70-80mpg.

Hope this helps aliviate any worries you have.

My dealer told me almost all issues from 2024 are fixed.

But if you are looking for comfortable ride - I've read that the Tayron will receive additional adaptable suspension.

I looked at the Tayron too before choosing the Kodiaq.

The Tayron's interior falls short of the Kodiaq and the styling i found to be too corporate/bland .

The extra's that come standatd in my SportLine are expensive in the similar styled R-Line.

I went with kodiaq. Basically got SEL PHEV version with few extras like heated window, 360 cameras, color, wheels. I tried getting quote for Tayron, speced it to be exactly like Kodiaq matrix headlights, 360 cameras and etc. minus electric driver seat with memmory. They quoted me 46k. 😅

After test driving it I didn't felt it to be much smoother or whatever so decided that it doesn't make sense to pay 7k extra for technically the same care minus electric driver seat.

It's ridiculous how much is including in base kodiaq vs Tayron. When I first called them and started listing features that I want sales person pretty much kept saying "yeah that's included for no extra cost".

Thanks for sharing your experience. I ordered my Kodiaq two days before I saw the announcement for the softer suspension and I wondered whether I made a mistake. I am relieved now 😌

And yes, VW want a lot more money for the same "extras", but reviewers are saying the Tayron has more premium materials, which tbh, I don't see on the videos.

I'd cry BS on that statemeent made by any VW fanboy.. VW drivers (and I have been one a few times) will always think their brand is more "premium" than the Skoda. The interior on my Sportline is far supierior to that of my previous Tiguan R-Line, everything feels great and the seats are highly ajustable and very supportive. Looking at the SEL trim levels these are also top notch, with i could've spec'd the tan/brown leather in mine.

I didn't checked everything but yeah MAYBE few plastic bits felt a bit better on VW but that didn't seemed relavant to me. Definitely not worth 7k more.

I compared my 2L TSI Sportline with the equivalent Tayron R-Line specced up similar. The VW worked out at £6k more and not a penny in discount, so the decision was an easy one. I'd also have considered the Seat/Cupra Tarraco if they still made it.
