Hi! I have a 2004 Fabia vRS. It has a couple of annoying niggles.

Niggle 1

The heated seat controls no longer cause much heat to be produced and the temperature dial turned all the way down no longer produces the full chill with AC and, likewise turning it all the way up doesn't produce the full amount of heat. As far as I can tell, both these issues started at the same time so I'm wondering if, like when fan position 1 stopped working, this is a resistor issue? If so, I'm wondering if this is something I can fix myself and how I would do it or am I better taking it the dealers? To give a bit of context of my abilities, I can change a car HiFi and take apart and rebuild a computer successfully, I start getting a bit unsure when I need to do soldering though.

Niggle 2

The middle 3 elements on the heated rear window don't work, and nor does the light in the boot. Except, about 3% of the time they do. If one works, so does the other, so I'm guessing there's a bit of wiring somewhere that needs replacing. Again, should I attempt this or take it to the dealers?

Thanks!

Not sure but if the fan isn't working on number one it could be the resistor or perhaps a bad switch. The resistor I think is below glove box so it has to removed plus airbag if fitted(disconnect battery first).

Have a good look at the elements on the back window. All it takes is a slight scartch and it breaks the circuit as my dog did to my Octy. You used to be able to get paint style repair kits to bridge the break.

The dodgy boot light on my sons Mk1 rear is the same. Reckon its a bad connector or broken wire. If it was a short it would blow fuses. havent haad time to trace cables back to see.

Niggle 1 Easy enough to replace the resistor - plenty of topics on it on this site. Just out of interest when was the aircon last regassed?
Niggle 2 as mentioned you may get away with some conductive paint. Also, check the connection from main body to the tailgate inside the rubber boot.

Thanks for the replies!

Aircon was last done about 18 months ago.

I have checked the heating elements with a volt meter and got readings all along them, so I don't think it's a broken circuit there, but the boot light was working then.

Position 1 on the fan works now, I had that issue a couple of years ago and got the dealer to fix it. I was wondering if losing range on the heater control and heated seats was a similar thing.
