I've got a 2024 Mk3, 2.0 petrol, SEL with 10k miles & FSH.

There's an intermittent buzzing / humming from behind the dash when the fan is on.

It doesn't matter matter if the AC is on or off, what speed the fan is set at or where the air flow is directed.

It stops when the fan is switched off

It is intermittent but frequent.

Seems to work OK but is really annoying.

Any ideas what it could be ?

Andy

Mine does the same. It's annoying when the ignition's on and the engine's not running, but once I'm on the road with the radio on and the road noise, any buzzing or humming can't be heard.

Thanks mate, its driving me nuts !

I've worked out its something to do with the temperature setting, below 18degrees its OK, 18-22 it gets worse & over 22 its really bad. That was with an outside temp of 14.

We're moving to North Hykeham at the end of June, if all goes well, so maybe we'll see each other around in the county and can compare our noises!

Exactly the same mate, doesn't do it all the time but it drives me nuts !

I don't suppose you know what it is ?

Thanks,

Andy

Mine's exactly the same too. As I said earlier, once I'm driving other noises and the radio mask it, so I'm not too bothered.

I presumed it was a noisy relay as it is coming from behind the glovebox where the fuse box is.

I just tried with the temperature and mine is similar, noise starts at 21/22 and if I drop to 20 it's gone/quieter. I'm sure I've heard the noise at lower temperatures too though

Thanks mate, I'll look into it.

Dealership said they could hear it too but because there's no fault code & it works as it should there's nothing they can do at the minute but if it gets worse to take it back.

Ah, I was going to take mine in before the warranty ran out. What dealership was that?
