Octavia dash question after battery disconnect

Featured Replies

Hi

My Octavia 2 facelift 1.6tdi always used to display kmh at the bottom of the display.

Battery got disconnected as part of getting a new key cut(which was problematic and involved the clocks having to be reset from the back(?)).

Now it displays 1-2 at the bottom, the only button I have is the one on the screen bottom right, I can cycle through and it will flash kmh, but them defaults back to 1-2.

Any clues!?

Also with this screen is it possible to view fuel economy?

Thanks for any help and advice.

It looks like it is asking you to choose memory 1 or 2 for the data listing. One is for current journey data list and two is the same for total journeys since last reset. Select using the button on the bottom of the right hand stalk.

Normally either 1 or 2 appears at top right of the display screen once selection has been made.

If this doesn't work, then disconnect the battery, wait a while and reconnect.

It is common to find funny things have happened after reconnecting the battery. I believe it is due to the sparking as the battery is reconnected.

My latest "fault" due to this was the doors unlocking and relocking every time I accelerated in first gear! Go figure! Disconnecting the battery, waiting and then reconnecting fixed it.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately i don't have any buttons on stalks just the one in the picture.

Just tried unplugging the battery for 10 minutes, same thing.

I have scoured the internet and even read the manual, I am at a loss!

And in a strange update if anyone reads this, I was driving last night and the fuel light came on and where the temperature is displayed in the picture in now shows range, filled up this morning and the range is staying.

If I use the button on the dials(only button I have) it will either reset trip, give option to set clock, or show time/miles till service required...weird.

Should tell you in the manual You havent got cruise enabled have you as in later digital dash that can change what you see

I have gone through the manual, no mention of it at all. I dont have cruise on the car so cant have that enabled,.

Strange that the range appeared when the fuel light and chime happened, and now seems here to stay.

Always used to display your speed in KM/h where the 1-2 is, but that seems to be gone.

Not going to complain too much as the range is more helpful than the outside temperature which the radio already shows me!

Must be somewhere in the manual to allow different dash settings surely

The manual is a generic one that covers lots of models, any mention of display and controls are of higher models that also have the controls on the stalk.
