Air conditioning sometimes freezing windscreen

Featured Replies

Sometimes I've noticed the air conditioning creates two frosty patches on the windscreen. It happened yesterday when I was driving and it was about 19⁰C outside and I had it set to 16 I think. I turned it up to 18 and it didn't defrost and I ended up having to turn it up to HI for it to go

Anyone else found this? Doesn't always happen.

Happens a lot to me, depends which direction you have the vents pointed (ie onto yourself or the windscreen) and on the outside temp vs the aircon temp. Annoying but not a biggie I don’t think?

It's doing it today again. Set at 18⁰C, outside temp 17⁰C

It's misting up the windscreen significantly so I think more than just annoying. There's clearly a fault.

What settings do you have for the rest of the air con other than the temperature?

Are the condensation patches on the inside or the outside?

You mentioned that they were two patches, but this has now extended to the condensation on the whole screen, has any water been spilt in the car, had it recently been valeted etc?

Is recirculation on. If so that can cause misting and can also lead to patches on the screen

I never said it had extended to the whole screen. The patches can grown quite big though.

No, recirculation is not on. I went out just now to check.

I have photos from this afternoon but the website isn't allowing me to upload them from my phone.
