'Lo all.

Quick Question. My octavia stereo has this GALA whatsit, but when I set the level to anything other than 5 it returns to 5 after being turneed off & on again.

EG get in the car, set the GALA to 7. Get out & back in and its back to 5. Turn the stereo off & oon again and its back to 5.

Whats going on?

Haven't tried it in the wifes Octy but have in the Furby with the same results as you.

In conclusion it seems useless.

gala is for vehicle speed,ie the faster you go the more road noise, the radio will automatically increase the volume, hope this helps.the wire for gala at the back of the radio is also used for the sat nav radios.

have you saved the new setting ? or juat moved on through the options list in the handbook it talks of saving before leaving the gala section

i'll try it on mine and see.

I have saved the settings.

Also noticed it seems to turn up the volume as I come off the motorway and road noise falls.

I think it's crap but then again it didn't cost me anything extra so not that bothered.

For what it's worth, I could never get it to work either.

this used to happen in my last Octavia (Elegance tdi) but in the L&K it keeps the setting just fine - so it must be designed to work that way. Also does that in my wife's Audi, basically the same system. Very odd, maybe someone at Skoda is reading this and can help?

To save a setting on the stereo you just have to move to the nxt feature, I kept having the same problem with mine, someone set the intial volume to 17 I never sussed it until i did it by accident. I found GALA took a little while to react

under braking but got there eventually.

yeah tried all that on my last one and it didn't work, on the L&K I don't have to do that and it does work - dunno why there should be a difference

GALA in my girlfriend's Passat was a pain in the ****, but in the Octy I've just left it at "5" and haven't really noticed it doing anything.

Configured Gala in my car (set at 6) and it definatly remembers it, the reason I know I had to put the code back in today 'cause of the drain to the fuel tank.

And it works as well, especially usefull for when speeds get highish

So well worth sorting it.......
