2025 Skoda Kodiaq Review: Solid Family SUV or Overpriced? My Full Opinion After Testing It

Featured Replies

Hi! Long time since I’ve posted here. Just wanted to share my thoughts after spending a few days driving the new 2025 Skoda Kodiaq. I’ve been testing it thoroughly, so here’s my take on the good… and the not-so-good.

Before I get into details, if you want to check out the full review, here’s the link: https://youtu.be/CpQei4KVtzA

Engine and Driving

It’s powered by a 2.0 turbo engine that honestly moves the car just fine. It’s not made to be fast, but it doesn’t feel slow either. It’s pretty relaxed, perfect for city driving or highway cruising with the family. The DSG7 gearbox is still one of the best in the VW group—super smooth and fast shifts. One interesting thing: even though this engine isn’t hybrid like the 1.5 version, the start-stop system works so smoothly it feels like there’s some electric assistance helping out.

Suspension

In the city, it’s super comfy… but quite bouncy. It handles small bumps well, but over speed bumps or road dividers, you really feel it jumping a bit too much. On the highway though, it improves a lot—feels stable even at higher speeds.

Interior Space

Inside, it’s huge. Front and second-row seats are super comfy. The third row is more for kids or short trips. Trunk space is generous, with practical solutions like a double floor, hidden compartments, and even a real spare tire (which you don’t see much these days). Interior quality feels like a big upgrade over the previous generation.

Equipment

Here’s the tricky part. It comes loaded with tech: auto braking, lane assist, blind spot sensors, etc. But… no adaptive cruise control. Yep, a $40k+ SUV and no ACC. Big negative for me. The infotainment is solid though, the multifunction knobs are practical, and the interior design is quite nice. But the reverse camera is pretty bad, and in the 2.0 version, there are no drive modes… which feels strange at this price point.

Price & Conclusion

It’s definitely not cheap. The 1.5 version starts around $37k, and the 2.0 easily goes over $41k. For that price, I expected more features. Still, if you’re after a comfy, spacious SUV with a nice interior design, it’s a solid option. But if fuel economy or top-tier tech features are your priority, there might be better options out there.
