Eibach springs , alloy collars ?

Featured Replies

bought some Eibach prokit springs off a forum member yesterday for my Fab VRS , brand new in box ,part of group buy earlier this year i think, also in the box are 2 alloy collars with grub screws , now i can work out that they go somewhere on the front shock absorber damper shafts , but where on the shaft ? does anybody know on the forum whos fitted these springs and can shed some light , cheers

I also got these alloy collars with the Eibach springs but the mechanic in Dubsport didn't put them on. I had Koni dampers put on too at the same time so maybe they were there for the standard dampers? Car has been fine without them but would be interested to see if they are actually required.

thanks Dave , so basically from what i can gather from that thread is that they are put on the steering rack to stop excessive lock being used so the tyres dont touch the inner arch liner with the springs fitted , so dont really need fitting then .

The tyres don't touch the liner, the track rod touches the anti roll bar.

 does this mean under extreme suspension movement the track rod will touch the roll bar or just normal day to day driving they're gonna touch ? i don't fancy stripping the track rods off the rack , its bad enough doing the ones on the Fords , i assume no one on here has had a problem with not fitting the collars ?

It's not that severe.

When on full lock and not on completely level gound I get a slight groan as they meet. I've looked that the ARB and you can just see a little bit of touch but nothing major.

Interestingly mine made that noise - until I fitted the strut brace. Now they don't rub any more. Strut must have reduced the amount of body flex...

Mine didnt make the noise until I fitted the strut brace lol
