Thule Wingbar Evo will 118s fit with the right foot pack (7106)

Featured Replies

I've got a MK1 2022 Sportline and changing to MK2 SEL. I'm using Thule 118 bars with he Mk 1 (which were one of the two recommended sizes (118 &127), but have now seen that the MK2 size is supposed to be 127. Does anyone know if the 118 will fit (with the appropriate 710600 foot pack)? Or what the distances between the roof rails are on MK2?

Thanks

I also had Thule Wingbar Evo on my Superb Estate and RAV4, but could not find a footpack anywhere for my Kodiaq MK2. They were either out of stock or hiked up in price on eBay and Amazon. I eventually settled for a set of Farad bars, which are "nearly" as good as Thule. The full set including feet cost just £100, lock with a "secure" Torx driver instead of a key, but were a doddle to install. I just put a strip of helicopter tape on the inside of the feet to protect the black painted rails on my Sportline. The best thing about Farad aero bars is that they are virtually silent at 70mph whereas my Thule bars howled like a banshee even at 40mph with the rubber strips in place.

My Thule bars are now going on eBay.

Here's the link where I bought mine, but are often out of stock:

Had Farad aero bars on my last estate. When I switched to my current 2024 Superb estate the roof rails are closed type and the Farads had to go. Lovely bars though Recommended.

TBH... I preferred the open rails to the closed rails as the feet clamp around the rail more and appear much more secure. I also found it useful to thread cargo straps under the open rails for additional confidence.

Are closed rails a part of cost cutting?

Quite agree with your point on the security of open rails and I think the change to closed rails is a styling thing. Shame but we’re stuck with it.
