Octavia 2 litre 140 bhp + DSG box

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am contemplating buying an Ambiente with DSG box, are they reliable? Any other info most welcome

Cheers Gibbo

Yes they are reliable and the DSG with the 2.0TDI is great. I prefer Elegance spec but budget contraints meant i couldn't go for the DSG too. Still well happy though. The 2.0 TDI engine is brilliant.

I have the 2.0 TDI Elegance combi and I have found it is a great car, no complaints so far, fingers crossed

can't speak for the 2.0 TDi but DSG in the 1.9 is fantastic. Have heard of no undue reliability problems with this box, but I suppose there will be faulty ones just like any other component.

DSG has been used in VAG cars for a while now so should be proven technology.

I have heard that IF there is a problem with a DSG box then dealers are not allowed to touch them - the box must be removed and sent back to the factory - but I may be correced on this

Thanks chaps, I had a test drive on Monday (while my problemmatic Fabia was being fixed - again) and it seems to be a really good tool. Kickdown was bit jerky and brakes snatched a bit, but that may be my inexperience with autos.
