Fabia VRS Aircon Problem ???

Featured Replies

Hello folks, I have just experienced an aircon problem, its worked fine until this evening, had aircon on and had fan on full blast no. 4, but when I switched it down to no. 3, 2 or 1, the fan stops working and the aircon switches off.

Anybody got any thoughts?

I have looked at the associated aircon and blower fuses & and swapped them round with other similar ampage fuses ( as I don't have a meter to check them out ) without any success.

Anybody seen this or know of a fix ?

I'm going to call garage tomorrow to see what they suggest or when they can look at it.

Could be the resistor pack on the fan.

4 is obviously full speed and the slower speeds use resistors to reduce the power and thus speed.

Is it under warrenty?

Yes sure is.

I'm going to contact local Skoda garage tomorrow, but thought it might be something easy that I could fix myself and/or if somebody else had seen same fault.

Cheers

Got to be the resistor pack as the aircon turns off when the fan is not running to protect the system.

Hope it doesnt cost too much tho :(

Resistor pack isn't expensive and it's even cheaper under warranty :P

Shouldn't take them long to sort out, but you may have to wait for it to be delivered from the warehouse.

Guy at garage getting resistor pack thingy ( he called it something else but agreed when I asked if thats the resistor pack ) from VW garage across the road and car booked in tomorrow to see if thats what problem is - will post update after car been in.

Nice one - hope it's sorted soon as if it's as hot in Scotland as around here you'll want that aircon working, can't imagine max fan speed is too great from the noise alone.
