FELICIA -GEARBOX oil plug - please help

Featured Replies

I am looking to locate the refill plug for my 2001 Felicia 1.9 D. I looked everywhere... but I can't locate it.. The drain plug is in the back of gearbox.. but the refill one I can't find. If anyone knows PLEASE let me know..

On the 1.6 you have to remove the speedo cable/ drive pinion and fill through this aperture. The level is then checked using the drive pinion as a dipstick.

Not sure if this is the same gearbox as the 1.9 though?

(The Haynes manual suggests that they are the same)

Hope this helps.

THANKS A LOT. Indeed , I checked and the speed cable can be removed unscrewing a bold , pulling the plate out ( the plate keeps the cable locked in the hole) and then removing the cable out. and here you go.. you can add transmission oil, but I'm not sure which kind. If anyone need more help I can provide pictures. HAVE A GREAT DAY GUYS !

Gear oil - 75W/90 to API GL4.

In the picture you can see the speed cable. Remove the bolt , than remove the plate that holds the speed cable into place. Than just lift up the mechanism at the end of speed cable grabbing it by the big nut. It should come out very easy

Now, the question is how you use the drive pinion as a dipstick? Are there any markings on it?????

HERE IS THE PINION... Please notice the aluminiun nut .. this is the part you grab in order to pull the pinion out of the hole. This hole will be used for check/refill the gearbox oil.

Great pictures. Would it be possible to see pictures of your gear linkage repair?

The oil level should be 4mm below the base of the drivegear.

It is stated that the oil level is acceptable to be slightly higher but should never fall below this level.

The capacity of the gearbox is 2.4 litres...best to measure and refill with exactly this amount.

THANKS CJCRUMLY for your help... I have to take the car to a ramp in order to take the pictures of the linkage. My father did a great job on that. I have a profesional camera so that picture will be great too :-)) .. just allow me a couple a days and I'm gonna provide you with the pictures...

CJCRUMLY please check again the picture .. Is that the "base of drive gear" ???

and the oil level should be just 4 mm below that?? thanks

Yes...that's correct [according to the Haynes Manual].

I can also verify that when I re-filled my gearbox with 2.4 litres of oil, this was about the right mark.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pictures. I will have a look at this joint when I get round to it.
