Hello! My dad just got his brand new 2025 Octavia 2.0 tdi and this error/warning popped up.. the car works fine and nothing else happened. Is yours still doing this? Is everything ok?

  • I'm guessing that, as you suspect, it's general advice. Perhaps an over-dramatic warning that without the engine running, the battery will eventually go flat.

  • Suggest getting the battery tested.

Does the stop start system work? Mine didn’t and it got a new battery recently after 6 months and 4,000km

Oh, you just posted the update.. sorry for not paying attention. So since September it’s doing it and everything works fine? I’m being skeptycal about it..

Ask skoda business chat on messenger thay will send your query to skoda technical team for an answer. I have used them when I wasn't happy with my dealer answer.

I don't get any messages like that on my dash.

Skoda octavia mk4 4.5 2024

Thanks. Will give this a shot.

It seems fine… But in truth it’s hard to know. I’m infrequently in the car for any length of time with just the ignition on. And frankly, even if such an occasion arose, I’d just turn the engine on because I don’t trust that there isn’t a problem.

Some half decent documentation or backed up demonstration from the dealer would go a long way.

The dealer I use is actually in the process of losing their Skoda dealership as part of VW Group restructuring in the UK. Albeit they are remaining as an official servicing partner I believe. Might check in with the new dealer when they fire up. Which is to say, after the fact I contemplated dropping in another day to ask if they could demonstrate the same issue in another vehicle. But their entire showroom is now full of MGs as far as I can tell.

Basically no strong arguments from them.. it could be true tho(i hope so) as my dads is brand new straight from Skoda.. it was delivered just yesterday. I have an 2012 Megane 3 and when i got this warning was permanent and had alternator problems..

Being a new car it looks worrying but also it just pops up like a reminder and it goes away. Is it maybe just an over dramatic reminder? Hope so!

I had thought the same, maybe just a heavy handed reminder. But others in this thread with the same vehicle have said they get the battery symbol but no warning.
