Hopefully someone has the answers to these questions.

I have just bought a new octavia estate 1.9 tdi elegance with xenon head lamps does anyone know if these are switchable to continental? A further question is how do I get the rear fog light to work on the left side of the car?

I am moving to the continent and continental lights are a must but costs are crucial.

Fog light can be programmed by your dealer.

Rob, do you notice your headlights flickering slightly when you drive along over a rough surface? Not the self leveling but an actual flicker.

I was lead to believe by my the dealer that there is some sort of lever in the bonnet at the back of the headlights or something which enabled the lights to be switched to continental driving.

Should be in the owners manual, unless it says refer to dealer.

Workshop manuals only list a procedure for halogen headlamps.

There is a tiny lever in the back of the headlamp, on the rght hand side of the lamp. You need a T8 torx bit to undo the back of the headlamp case and a small flat bladed screwdriver to push in and move the little black lever to the other position.

Might give that a whizz on mine - assume it is the same for the MK1? Can it be done with the unit in place or is it a remove light unit from car job?

see how easy it is to remove the back of the headlamp. You may even find the switch on the outside of the headlamp.
