Boot strut wiring (estate)

Featured Replies

I've just bought a 2013 superb 2.0 tdi 170 and the boot has already failed.

It starts closing and then beeps 3 times and stops. Occasionally it will work. Mostly no problems with it opening but sometimes it won't open.

Now, I've seen there are plenty of posts on here and elsewhere about this problem. Seems like the wiring breaking is a common problem, so I want to look at this first.

Having looked at other posts and YouTube vids, people seem to just pop the rubber boot off at the strut end and expose the (potentially) broken wires.

Mine seems to have a moulded piece, however. It doesn't seem possible to slide it off. I wanted to know if I'm missing some simple way of removing it before I go slicing open with a blade?

Can you post a picture so we can take a look?

Looks like the dealer is going to fix it under warranty, fingers crossed. If not, I will post a picture.

Ah that's even better.
