2022 TSI 1.5 Petrol Metallic grinding noise when driving in lower gears!?

Featured Replies

Hi not sure if this is a known issue and if so not harmful and can anyone advise?

This is regarding skoda karoq 2022 TSI 1.5 petrol

Iv noticed passenger side window down when driving in lower gears and lower speed I can hear like a metallic grinding sound sometimes light or stronger depending on speed of car or if it feels it's driving in wrong gear for the speed potentially.

Bought the car from the dealership and they apparently fixed it as a known issue with something in gearbox.

Now asking to find out if anyone else has experienced this and whether it's harmful or just one of those noises you have to put up with? Gears change fine no issues.

Any feedback would be great thanks!

I have same problem with my 23 karoq 1.5 sport line auto. When passenger window down can hear scraping noise. Had it in twice to Dundee Skoda but they said no fault found. Took it to Perth Skoda and they acknowledged the noise and said it was gearbox. They had the car for two weeks then said tech dept told them car was ok. They didn’t examine the gearbox but merely replaced the oil . I complained to customer service and told them it was shocking to admit the car had a problem but that they had refused to fix it. Don’t know what to do now.

My mate popped over and said he thought the sound was brakes rubbing and nothing to worry about. However, we test drove the car we mentioned something around the gears and they acknowledged a know issue which they fixed inside the gearbox. I'm not techy but it was one of the upper disc parts they changed or something around it
