Coolant recirculation pump 2 fault codes P261A and B Octavia II/III with CAYC engine.

Featured Replies

To continue as nobody has posted for several years.

I had this code (actually two codes, P261A and B) The old pump, unchucked from the bin shows no continuity across any of the pins so is declared dead. I replaced it with the EBay £14.94 version which is shown on the You Tube video and cleared the codes but they have both come back. I guess I need to check

Common Causes of P261B

  1. Faulty coolant pump: A malfunctioning coolant pump can trigger this code if it is not circulating coolant properly through the engine.

  2. Wiring issues: Damage or corrosion to the wiring connected to the coolant pump control circuit can cause a malfunction.

  3. Faulty coolant pump relay: A faulty relay that controls the operation of the coolant pump can result in this code being triggered.

  4. Defective coolant temperature sensor: If the coolant temperature sensor is not providing accurate readings to the control module, it can cause issues with the coolant pump operation.

but finding where all these things are is not easy.

Can anyone help please?

Had my son's computer talk to the car. He was able to actuate the pump with it and I could hear and feel it running. Perhaps the pump speaks Chinese and the car German?
