I’ve recently noticed that when I start the ignition on my Mk4.5 SEL Octavia, the audio volume comes on quite loud at first and then automatically drops to a lower (previously set) level. I’ve had a quick look through the settings but can’t find anything that seems to control this behaviour. It’s odd, because my previous car did the opposite — it would start quietly and gradually return to the last set volume.

Has anyone else come across this?

This happens to me intermittantly and am wondering the same! Although I haven't left it on long enough to know if it drops down to a lower level automatically, as I turn it down instantly with a finger slide.

I did ask ChatGPT to provide a fix but I'm not convinced I've come across this option... I'm sure AI just makes stuff up to make a person feel better:

• Maximum Switch-on Volume: Go to Menu -> Sound -> Volume to set the maximum volume for when the car is turned on.

Yes it’s a setting you can change

Yep checked mine tonight. It was set on quite low and when I did turn on the car the volume was OK. I clearly need to apply some more thought to my troubleshooting...
