Intermittent wipers

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a2012 1.6 tdi Skoda Fabia, my front windscreen wipers have stopped working on the intermittent setting, I read somewhere it would be the stalk but after replacing that the windscreen wipers still don't work on intermittent, everything else works on the stalk it's just this fault, I'm thinking now of replacing the wiper motor but I'd like to see if anyone else has had this problem and if there is something else I should check?

Thanks

Make sure the bonnet is properly shut. If the microswitch that senses bonnet being open isn't saying 'shut' the intermittent setting may be disabled.

Would that not disable the wipers completely?

Not necessarily. Try it.

I will give it a try tomorrow when it's light

Hi does anyone know if my car has a bonnet open micro switch? I have looked and can't see one

Does it have an alarm? If not, it probably hasn't got the microswitch on the bonnet latch.

  • Author

Yes it has an alarm, the wipers and washers all work when the bonnet is open so there must be something wrong with the system

The micro switch does not appear to be doing anything but if it wasn't working would it not show as bonnet open on dash?

Not sure, can check on our 2012 Roomster tomorrow afternoon.

Can also check whether only the intermittent wiper function is impacted by bonnet open, which I think may be the case.

That would be great, can the micro switch be replaced or is it a case of replacing the whole latch

I can confirm that popping the bonnet release disables intermittent wiping, but not normal or full speed wiping.

Too rainy and dismal outside to try to see the latch microswitch.

You may be able to see on images of replacement latch parts.

Thank yoi for that

There are four different part numbers in partslink24 for the 'lid lock', so I'll message you to request your VIN so that I can see which is the correct part number for your particular car.
