My electric car that i had from Motability lost 12,500 miles over night with an over the air software update that locked me out. Then lost more miles when at the Main Dealers getting Software Updates that they failed time after time to do. Finally done on a Sunday when Service Centre Closed and by a person i know that decades back was the local contractor / tech for Clocking back Taxis and Fleet hire cars.

Sounds like altering reported State of Health might be the new mileage clocking?

Caveat emptor!

It's just electronics and having the right software to access and alter data I guess?

Suspect it was more difficult in the days of old fashioned mechanical speedos & service books?

Looks like the Automotive industry needs to do work on securing their platforms and blocking access etc
