21 plate octavia vrs heated steering wheel

Featured Replies

Hey guys

Ive got a heated steering wheel and when i set it on to level 3 it seems to take ages to heat up and even when its fully heated it doesnt seem to be as warm as it ought to be, is this normal?

My wifes vw tiguan heated steering wheel for example is roasting

Do you reckon its a fault or can be tweaked with obd11?

Doesn't sound right to me, I have a '21 vRS with the heated steering wheel and that is noticeably warm within 500m of driving off and at what I would call full temp within 1km at town speeds, so 50km/h.

So mine does get warm within 1km like yourself but perhaps doesnt feel hot compared to other cars,

just seeing if this is a element issue or just overtime it doesnt get as warm as it use to compared to newer cars

Real question i suppose what can be done to improve things? Ive tried looking at obd11 but couldnt find the option

Not sure if the whole steering wheel has to be replaced if i want it hotter?

Do you have an infrared thermometer at all? It would be interesting to see how warm the steering wheel is actually getting...

If you have one, or some way to measure the temp I'd be happy to measure mine for comparison.

So i used a infrared thermometre and the temperature ranged between 37c to 40c after a 8 mile / 20 min drive

Well that is within industry standards (32-46C) so it sounds like it's operating normally. I'll dig my thermometer out and measure mine and update this, though I'd be surprised if it's hotter than that.

OK, just got home after about a 5 minute drive, steering wheel temp was just over 40C.

It might get a little hotter if on for longer but I doubt it would be much more than 2 or 3 degrees, certainly warm enough for my liking.

Appreciate you for confirming 👍
